This is one of the short stories I will have in the upcoming first issue of Unreachable Beasts. It's an adaptation of one of my favorite russian folk tales.
READ ALL OF IT AFTER THE CUT (If you want to, that is. But since this is my blog I highly encourage it.)
Wow, this is an awesome comic. Your pacing is excellent, as always. The sound effects were nicely done too. And the character designs were pleasing to the eye. SOLID.
This is really great, Nick. Apocalyptic in the best way. Is it really from a folktale? Did you come up with the bear's vengeance rant or was that from the source story?
Yeah it's from a real folk tale, found in a book collected by Aleksandr Afanas'ev that I've got. That rant was pretty much word for word from the book, and one of the main reasons I made this comic in the first place.
Intense and scary and there's a deep beauty to the tale. Very cool that you can transmit so much emotion with so few words. Absolutely astonishing.

ReplyDeleteIn any case, really good stuff.
